How to run a CD without putting it in
If you have a large number of CD's, it can be a bit of pain putting a different one in every time you want to use/listen to something. Fortunately, you can make a virtual image, which is something that is identical to the CD, but which can be kept on and run from your PC. For this tutorial you will need the original cd and some software that will allow you to make a virtual image from a CD (Alcohol 120% will be used for this tutorial - you can get a free trial
here).
- Put the CD in and launch Alcohol 120%
- Click on 'Image making wizard' in the main menu
- Press next, and give the CD image a name. It's also better to save it as an ISO image
- Press start and wait while the virtual image is created.
- When it completes, download and install something called 'Daemon Tools'. You can download it (free) from here
- When it has installed, you should be able to see the icon in your system tray.
- Right click on the icon, and choose Virtual cd/dvd-rom. Then from one of the devices choose 'Mount Image'

- Locate the ISO image you made earlier, and click on it
- Go to 'My Computer' to make sure everything is working properly. You should now be able to run whatever CD you want without having to putting the CD in
