How to save bandwidth
If you have a few websites, you will know how quickly your bandwidth can be used up. Here are a number of tips to help reduce bandwidth usage- Reduce the number of images
- Compress the images you do have to reduce their size
- Use CSS whenever possible, and use an external stylesheet for all pages of the web site
- Reduce the number of HTML comments, and other unnecessary code
- Install and use something called gzip.
- Disable hotlinking. You can usually do this from cPanel (if that is what you use as your hosting control panel)
- Avoid flash
- Use imageshack.us and photobucket to host large image files.
- Don't have music and video embedded/hosted on your web site. Use services such as rapidshare and megaupload if you want to share these with others
